Last week we invited you to have a party with us in your homes, to mark the start of the festival that never was. We all danced to some absolute bangers, chosen by you and dedicated to those you love. That playlist is still here if you fancy a listen, and you can also read a text written by Sleepdogs’ Timothy X Atack that unfolded on Twitter throughout the night.

When we cancelled Mayfest, we decided that we didn’t want to move the festival online. Instead we decided to do an experiment. What could we share with you, our audience, that keeps hold of some of the magic of being together, and which celebrates the work of the brilliant artists that would have been part of this year’s programme, but that we can do while we’re apart?

We asked our artists to have a think about what they might like to share, and so, over the next few days we’ll be offering you some unique experiences that you can enjoy in your homes, while out walking, or wherever you might find yourself. Raquel Meseguer is inviting you to experience part of A Crash Course in Cloudspottingand we have some surprises in store from Bert & Nasi, Action Hero and more.

We’ll also be joining other Bristol arts organisations in launching the Bristol Arts Channel. And we’ll be bringing back Thought Residencies and Demostage – more news on all of that soon.

Keep it here and on our social channels for more info, and if you’re not already, do join our mailing list. And let us know what you think. This is all new, for all of us, so let’s figure it all out together. Send us an email at matthewandkate@mayk.org.uk
