Jaz Woodcock-Stewart with Morgann Runacre-Temple

Mayfest 2020 is no longer taking place due to Covid-19. We need your support now more than ever, so sign up to our mailing list, or consider donating, to help us deliver an even more exceptional festival in the future.

Jaz Woodcock-Stewart from award-winning company Antler collaborates with choreographer Morgann Runacre-Temple.

A hairdryer, an oven, a letter opener. The local church, fiscal policy and Marie Kondo’s folding technique. Civilisation is about the things we’ve lost and the things we’ve built. Civilisation is a day in the life of a woman following a tragic event. An experiment in theatrical realism and contemporary dance.

From the creator behind critically acclaimed Lands, Civilisation is a sideways look at the untheatrical reality of loss.

Music by ABBA and Bach.

“Complex, raw and insensibly smart, I could watch it for ever ”

The Guardian

“An utterly, inexplicably devastating moment that made my insides crumple in on themselves.”
